In yoga, Anjali Mudra—bringing palms together at the heart center—serves as a powerful tool to ground, calm, and center ourselves. (see pic)
For me, it’s a gesture that brings all parts of myself to focus and helps me find peace, even amid chaos.
I use it all the time: in a meeting that feels combative, I’ll quietly bring my palms together to anchor myself. If I’m in an Uber after being around aggressive energy, I’ll do the same, putting on relaxing music and finding my center.
When I wake up in the morning, I bring my hands to Anjali Mudra and spend a few minutes meditating.
Anjali Mudra, stemming from the Sanskrit words for offering and salutation, is a sacred act that symbolizes humility, unity, and respect. This physical gesture not only has philosophical roots in connecting body, mind, and spirit but also activates pressure points that calm the nervous system, scientifically supporting a sense of balance and relaxation.
The world right now could use more peace.
I notice so many feeling anxious, and optimism seems to be dwindling. Practices like Anjali Mudra in yoga and meditation help us go inward, grounding us so we can stay open to kindness, possibilities, and positivity.
Peace begins with us. When we take steps to find calm within, we can radiate it outward, influencing our interactions and the world around us.
I hope you find peace xoxo
